Tips for the Perfect Trip & FAQ'sWHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Different seasons call for different attires. When Pigeon River rafting in Gatlinburg during spring, we recommend you wear layered clothing with synthetics such as fleece or polypropylene. For the warm summer months, we advise you to wear something simple like shorts and a shirt or a bathing suit. Regardless of season, we require the use of secure footwear such as tennis or water shoes, or sandals with a strap around the heels. Absolutely no flip-flops allowed! We also recommend you bring towels, a change of clothes, an extra pair of shoes – getting soaked is unavoidable!
Wet suits and splash jackets are available.
WHAT IF I CAN’T SWIM?
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Our rafting trips go rain or shine – you will get wet regardless, so there is no need to worry! We run spring and fall trips during the months of March, April, September and October. You can call for more information or questions.
WHAT ARE GUARANTEED DAYS ON THE PIGEON RIVER?
The guaranteed water release days are Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day weekend. The Pigeon River is dam-controlled. This means that guaranteed water release days are only available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Saturday for the months of May, June, July, and August.
Our company does check the release schedule on a day-to-day basis allowing us to offer trips year-round. Trips booked in the Spring, Fall, & Winter are considered natural flow and may have higher or lower water levels depending on the rain our area receives.
Please call us at 1 (800)449-7238 if you have questions about the water levels or would like to book a trip that you don’t see available online.
CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS IS NOT PERMITTED.
Anyone impaired or under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be excluded without refund. We sell beer and wine on-site to enjoy after the trip with valid ID.
CAN I TIP MY GUIDE?
Yes you may. White water raft guides always appreciate gratuities but never expect them.
