Good To Know

White water rafting is possibly the most exciting and exhilarating of all the Pigeon Forge activities available. It offers you a chance to experience the great outdoors and have a lot of fun while you’re at it. Here are some of the most common things people ask:

What should I wear?

Different seasons call for different attires. During spring, we recommend you wear layered clothing with synthetics such as fleece or polypropylene. We offer a Wetsuit Package (farmer john style with paddle jacket) for rent at $10.00 per person or Paddle Jacket alone rental for $5.00 per person and all Children under 5 receive Free Wetsuits.

For the warm summer months, we advise you to wear something simple like shorts and a shirt or a bathing suit.

Regardless of season, we require the use of secure footwear such as tennis or water shoes, or sandals with a strap around the heels. Absolutely no flip-flops allowed! We also recommend you bring towels, a change of clothes, an extra pair of shoes – getting soaked is unavoidable!

What if I can’t swim?

Do not worry because you are not alone, many rafters cannot swim either. We provide and require all of our guests to wear Coast Guard-approved vests.

What if it rains?

Our rafting trips go rain or shine – you will get wet regardless, so there is no need to worry!

What are guaranteed days on the Pigeon River?

Our guaranteed water release days, after Memorial day, are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. As the Big Pigeon River is dam-controlled, guaranteed release days are only available for the months of May, June, July, and August.

We check the release schedule for the months of March, April, September, and October on a day-to-day basis. Call us at 10:00 AM at 1-800-449-7238 on the day you would like to go rafting to know whether there is a scheduled trip for that day or if you should look into other Pigeon Forge attractions.

What else can I expect from the trip?

There are shower and changing facilities on-site for those going on the rafting trip. A free picnic area and fire pit is also available for those who would rather watch as friends and family go white water rafting and don’t forget to bring your instruments. Musicians and impromptu jam sessions welcome!
